Re: a few suggestions
kel it was the ferrety fence the pink and fluffy forum it was five years ago micki started it on the back of ffuk closing down so we all had somewhere to go for a chat and post about our ferrets as well as other things it was sad when it folded but then this one popped up and flourished now its in the throws of dying
Re: a few suggestions
As a newbie to this forum and ferrets but also someone who has set up and runs a forum for my rare breed of dog I will comment a bit. I found this forum a great help and even though when I was asking most of my questions I was the only one actually starting a topic I did always get an answer within 12 hours so I think it is very good in that. My dog forum which was big has taken a huge back step now most people are on FB, and I now only post information on there (I am also the Chairman of the UK breed club so post the committee details etc) and answer any queries, I have given up starting topics and chat is virtually none existent, it has moved to FB. I think this forum is doing well considering, but then I wasn't here in it's hay day, but thanks for all the help so far!

Re: a few suggestions
That's nice Fertelby. Glad you find it helpful and your comments are appreciated. Eileen with respect I think to say its dying is a bit of an over reaction. Its quieter we've all agreed and Dean's taken everyone's comments on board. It'd be more productive to look at the good points, of which there are many and then build on those strengths when addressing the areas for development.

as for what jenni said about wanting the forum to thrive was spot on i gave my thoughts as i see a dying forum other forums are ticking along this ones ground to a halt despite new members joining
instead of having a go at me for speaking out
use what was said as motivation and do something to save the forum not kill it
You keep saying its only your opinion then you react when others give theirs. Do you think that's fair?

Re: a few suggestions
I`ve always said and asked members for ideas to keep members active and posting. As wilbur has said a few times and its been said many times all forums are quiet and its just a sign of the times.
ps john u have made me laugh with your comments

Re: a few suggestions
I think a lot of the things suggested are good - however with regards to posting there can be a danger of posting about your own just for something to write and actually no one wants to read it - especially if it happens constantly!
There are a lot of staff here I would agree and people do thier own little bit - kel does a fine job and I am one of those lurkers Im afraid. i like to keep up with whats going on but wont post for postings sake when I have nothing to say just because I am staff.
The forum ticks along in its own little way as do most forums now.
Well done though eileen = you started one of the most active threads seen for a while! Perhaps we should all post more suggestions more often! lol
